Ecsite is the European network for science centres and museums, linking science communication professionals in more than 400 institutions in 50 countries. MC will organise this year’s Ecsite Annual Conference from June 3 to 5 in Dortmund. Around 1.000 scientists from all of Europe are expected to take part in the gathering. The goal is to convey scientific content by means of comprehensible, interactive expositions and seminars. New projects are being elaborated upon in a yearly conference at varying European locations. This year’s conference will take place in the German Occupational Safety and Health Exhibition (DASA). The programme consists of 300 lectures, discussions and a wide range of social events. MC is also in charge of the pre-conference meetings and workshops from June 1 to 2.
The Federal Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) has entrusted MC with the organisation of the pre-conference as well as the main conference. MC is responsible for the coordination of all service providers, such as technics, catering, and guest relations, plus the production of all promotional materials. Ecsite was founded 20 years ago. Its members include science centres and museums, science festivals, natural history museums, universities, zoos, aquariums and private businesses. The network seeks to establish international standards for scientific institutes and has been able to attract over 30 million visitors in their venues.
