European School Milk Programme Launches Photo Competition

Berlin, 13.02.09

A snapshot away from winning a Nintendo Wii

Pupils under the age of 20 years are invited to show how much they love milk in the “Milk Power!” photo competition for the European Commission. The three best photos will be selected through online voting, and the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development will award the three winners with Nintendo Wii video game systems.

MC is responsible for organising the photo competition of the European Union`s School Milk Programme. Young, up-and-coming photographers are asked to turn their creativity on and snap a picture of just how much they, their family and friends enjoy milk and other milk products. The winners will be chosen through online voting on the website www.drinkitup.eu. Along with possibility of winning the first prize, the best photos could be published on the website or in publication seen across Europe.

The European School Milk Programme encourages children to consume dairy products and to maintain a balanced diet and good eating habits. The programme also provides financial support to Member States so that schools and other educational establishments can provide their students with tasty and nutritious milk and milk products.

The deadline to enter the photo competition is May 31st 2009. You can find more information about the photo competition and how to participate in the online voting on the website www.drinkitup.eu
