MC films the visit of Benita Ferrero-Waldner in Minsk for the European Commission

On 22nd June 2009, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, held talks with the political leadership and the opposition in Belarus at a high-profile meeting. Media Consulta was present at the event in Minsk and produced on-site video material of all the discussion highlights on behalf of the European Commission.

The discussion of the possibility of further collaboration between Belarus and the EU was high on the agenda. In addition to a press conference, public meetings between Ferrero-Waldner; the Belarus President, Alexander Lukaschenko; and his Foreign Minister, Sergey Martynov, as well as representatives of non-governmental organisations and opposition political parties took place. MC produced journalistic video coverage of all the meetings, which will be available on the EU’s audiovisual server “Europe by Satellite”.

MC’s contract with the European Commission, Directorate-General Communication (DG COMM) has been ongoing since 2006. During this time, MC has been responsible for the TV production and reportage at a number of events important for co-operation between European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Furthermore, MC manufactures the TV and radio programme “Window to Europe” for the EU. This programme, which is broadcasted weekly, conveys current political, economical and cultural news and gives information on projects of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Programme (ENPI). The broadcast has already been running since 2006 in Belarus and started this year in Russia, Moldova and the Ukraine. Its aim is to encourage dialogue between the EU and the Eastern-European neighbouring states.
