MC Launches New Campaign to Celebrate the Euro

“EMU@10” campaign highlights the success story of the euro and the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU)

On the 10th anniversary of the euro, Media Consulta is launching its new “EMU@10” campaign for the EC Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs. Appearing in in-flight and airport publications, the campaign aims to highlight the success story of the euro and the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU).

Focusing on European travellers from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and Portugal, the “EMU@10” campaign underlines the strategic significance of the EMU and aims to further encourage the acceptance of the single currency by EU citizens. Particularly during the current financial and economic crisis, the euro has provided stability in the markets and eliminated the additional exchange costs.

The campaign adverts present the euro as a ‘global player’ – a currency that opens Europe for its users. The first advert appeared in the Germanwings in-flight magazine in February 2009 and further publications will follow such as in Ryanair, Easyjet, Air Berlin, TAP Portugal, Brussels Airlines, Aegean Airlines, Wizz Air and Air Baltic magazines. Campaign posters will also be placed in the largest airports of seven EU Member States.

Since 2007, the MC network has successfully supported “The euro, our currency” exhibition for the EC Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs. After the launch in Belgium, the exhibition has travelled across Europe to Malta, Cyprus, Slovakia, Germany and Portugal. In April and May 2009, the exhibition will stop off in Madrid.
